The Ovala Spanish Alabaster Loop Wall Sconce is a single closed loop of natural Spanish alabaster, lit from within so the whole ring glows and the wall behind it picks up a soft halo. There is no shade, no visible frame and no bulb in sight — only stone, a small mounting cylinder and light.

Spanish alabaster is the palest and most even of the alabasters, which is why the loop reads as one continuous band of warm light rather than a patchwork. Each piece still carries its own cloudy drifts and fine veining, so no two sconces glow in quite the same way.

It comes in two heights: 15.75" for a hallway, a bedside or a powder room of roughly 32–54 sq ft, and 23.62" for a larger wall of 54–86 sq ft. Both are 5.91" wide and sit just 2.17" off the wall. Hardwired with E12 or E14 sockets depending on your country, 110V–240V, max 40W, bulb not included. It suits modern organic, Hollywood Regency and contemporary minimal interiors.

Spanish Alabaster

The Palest Stone There Is

Spanish alabaster is quarried finer and paler than most, which is why this loop lights as one continuous band rather than a patchwork of bright and dark. It is the reason the shape works at all.

Even so, every piece carries its own cloudy drifts. Your sconce will not match these photographs exactly, and a pair will not match each other.

By day A closed ring of pale Spanish alabaster, 2.17″ off the wall. With no bulb visible it reads as an object rather than a fitting.
Switched on Light travels through the stone from inside the loop, so the ring glows evenly and the wall behind catches a soft halo.

Installation

A Small Fixing Behind a Heavy Ring

The hardware is deliberately tiny, which makes the wall behind it the important part.

Cut the power

Switch off at the breaker, not just the wall switch.

Check the fixing

Each sconce weighs 6 kg or more. Fix into a stud, or use anchors rated well above that.

Mount the cylinder

The fixing detail is only ⌀ 1.81″ and 1.97″ deep, so it hides completely behind the loop.

Connect and level

Black to black, white to white, ground to the green screw. A closed ring shows any tilt, so level it before the final tighten.

Fit the bulb

One E12 or E14 bulb, 40W maximum, 2700K–3000K. Bought separately.

Hanging a pair Both boxes at exactly the same height, 36–42″ apart over a bed. On a closed loop, half an inch of difference is obvious.
Wall type Stud or masonry is ideal. On plasterboard alone, use toggles rated well above 6 kg.

The Design

Take Away Everything but the Light

Most wall lights are an assembly: a backplate, an arm, a shade, a bulb. This one removes all of it. What is left is a closed loop of stone and a fixing small enough to disappear behind it.

Because the ring is closed, the light has nowhere to escape except through the stone, and the empty middle lets the wall show through — so the fixture reads as a drawn line rather than a solid block.

The Material

Quarried Stone, Not an Acrylic Ring

The same silhouette is made in acrylic or painted metal with an LED strip. Here is what changes when the loop is Spanish alabaster.

The glow Light travels through solid stone, so the ring glows unevenly where the cloudiness runs and reads warm all the way round. A flat, even strip of light with a visible diffuser edge.
Switched off Pale stone with real depth. It reads as a material, which matters most of the day. Reads as a plastic or glass panel waiting to be switched on.
One of a kind Cut from quarried Spanish alabaster, so no two loops carry the same drift. Extruded or moulded, identical on every unit.
Weight and feel 6 kg or more of solid stone — it needs a proper fixing and feels like it. Light enough to hang off a plasterboard clip.
Over the years Stone keeps its colour and does not yellow near the socket. Acrylic yellows with heat; painted metal chips at the edge.

The short version: an extrusion can copy this outline exactly. It cannot copy what light does inside a piece of quarried stone.

 

Care & Cleaning

Dry Cloth, Around the Ring

The stone Dust with a dry, soft cloth, following the curve of the loop. Alabaster is porous, so water marks it permanently.
The inner edge Dust settles on the inside of the ring where a cloth is awkward. A soft brush reaches it without pressure.
Never spray Liquid runs into the mounting cylinder and the socket. If a mark will not lift dry, send us a photo first.
Changing the bulb Power off and let it cool. Fit E12 or E14 at 40W maximum, 2700K–3000K, so the colour of the stone stays consistent.
Once a year Check the fixing screws behind the loop — 6 kg on a small cylinder puts steady load on them.
