Description

The Wisteria Cascading Glass Branch Wall Sconce turns a bare wall into a hanging garden, with a cast brass branch that reaches out from the backplate and long chains of textured glass blossoms falling from it like wisteria in flower. Each disc is pressed with a rippled, dew-like surface that breaks the light into dozens of small points instead of one flat reflection, so the wall behind it fills with soft pattern the moment the lamp is switched on.

Every blossom chain is wired onto the branch by hand, link by link, at staggered lengths — the sculpted branch and the cascade are what make this a piece of wall art that happens to give light, rather than a light fixture with decoration attached.

Choose from three finishes. Brass and clear is the warmest and most classic, at home in a Hollywood Regency or transitional interior. Nickel and clear reads cooler and more contemporary, and disappears into a pale wall so the glass does all the work. Black and clear gives the sharpest contrast, with the branch drawn against the wall in silhouette — the right choice for a modern or Art Deco room.

Use it in pairs flanking a bed, a mirror or a fireplace, or singly in a powder room, stair landing, entryway or dressing room. It takes E12 candelabra bulbs and runs on 110V–240V, so it works in North American and international installations alike.

Why This One

A Branch in Flower, Growing Out of the Wall

01

Glass That Ripples Instead of Reflecting

Every disc is pressed with a dewdrop texture rather than left flat, so each one breaks the light into dozens of small points instead of throwing back a single hard reflection. Lit, the wall behind fills with pattern; unlit, the discs still catch daylight from the window.

02

Chains Wired On One Blossom at a Time

Each disc is hung on its own twisted wire loop and the chains are set at staggered lengths, the way a flowering branch actually drops. Nothing here is a pre-made strand cut to size, which is why the cascade reads as growth rather than as fringe.

03

A Cast Branch, Not a Bent Tube

The arm is cast with knuckles, taper and a forking join, so it holds the shape of a real branch instead of a curved pipe. It is also what carries the weight of the glass, which is why the cascade can hang this full without sagging.

04

Three Finishes, Three Different Rooms

Brass turns the glass warm and gold and suits a traditional room; nickel stays cool and steps back against a pale wall; black draws the branch in silhouette and gives the sharpest contrast. Same piece, three quite different effects.

Caring for the glass cascade: dust the chains with a dry, soft cloth or a feather duster, cupping each strand from below rather than pulling it sideways on its wire. For fingerprints, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one — never spray cleaner directly onto the fixture, since liquid running down the branch reaches the socket. Switch the power off at the wall and let the bulbs cool completely before cleaning.

Find Your Fit

Measure the Wall, Then the Height

A cascading sconce falls further than it reaches out. Get the mounting height right and the proportions take care of themselves.

L 34.8 cm x H 54.9 cm / L 13.7″ x H 21.6″
One size · fixture only, bulbs sold separately

21.6″

overall height

Nearly two feet from the top of the branch to the last blossom. Most of that is cascade, so leave clear wall below the box rather than above it.

13.7″

width across the branch

Just over a foot wide. Allow at least 20″ of clear wall so the cascade is not crowded by a door frame, a mirror edge or a corner.

60″

junction box off the floor

The standard height beside a mirror or in a hallway. Beside a bed, go lower — 30 to 36″ above the mattress puts the glass at eye level when you are sitting up.

Scale & Proportion

A line drawing gives the Wisteria wall sconce as 13.7 inches wide and 21.6 inches tall.
Where It Belongs Flanking a bed, a mirror or a fireplace in pairs, or singly in a powder room, entryway, stair landing or dressing room. Allow at least 20″ of clear wall across and a clear run below, so the cascade hangs free of trim, tile edges and furniture.
Setting the Height Beside a mirror or in a hallway, put the junction box at about 60″ off the floor. Beside a bed, drop it to 30 to 36″ above the mattress. In a pair, space the two boxes 28 to 36″ apart so the cascades read as separate rather than as one mass.
Installation Hardwired wall mount. Fit E12 bulbs, max 40W each — bulbs sold separately, and 2700K warm white is what brings the texture out of the glass. Works with a standard wall switch; for dimming, use dimmable E12 bulbs and a compatible dimmer.

Before you order: mark 13.7″ across and 21.6″ down on the wall with tape and live with it for a day — a cascade reads much larger in place than it does on screen. Check the existing junction box is where you want the branch to sit, since moving it is an electrician’s job and the piece is hardwired.

Hanging a Pair

One Is Decoration, Two Is Architecture

A single sconce lights a corner. A matched pair frames whatever sits between them — a bed, a mirror, a fireplace — and turns the wall itself into the feature.

28–36″

between the two boxes

Closer than 28″ and the two cascades merge into one mass; wider than 36″ and they stop reading as a pair. Measure from box centre to box centre, not from the outer edges.

30–36″

above the mattress

Beside a bed this is the height that works, putting the glass at eye level when you are sitting up against the headboard rather than glaring down at you.

4–6″

clear of a mirror edge

Beside a mirror, leave this much air so the cascade is not reflected back on itself, and set both boxes at about 60″ off the floor — roughly eye height.

Two Ways to Hang Them

The same pair, set for a bedside and for a vanity

Flanking a bed Beside a mirror 28–36″ apart 30–36″ above mattress 4–6″ clear of the edge 60″ off the floor

Diagram — furniture and mirror shown for reference only and are not included.

Beside a Bed Boxes 30 to 36″ above the mattress and 28 to 36″ apart, set just outside the nightstands so the cascade hangs clear of the lamp, the books and the reaching hand.
Beside a Mirror Boxes at about 60″ off the floor and 4 to 6″ clear of the mirror edge. Light from both sides at face height is what removes the shadows a single overhead fitting leaves.
Flanking a Fireplace Centre both on the chimney breast, level with each other and about 12 to 18″ above the mantel, so the cascades stop short of the shelf rather than brushing what is on it.
Along a Hallway In a run rather than a pair, space them 8 to 10 ft apart at a single height of 60″, and keep them to one wall so the corridor does not close in.

If you are buying two, buy them together: the glass is textured in batches and the finish is applied by hand, so two sconces from the same order are the closest match you will get. Ordering the second one months later is the one way to end up with a pair that does not quite agree.

Three Finishes

The Glass Stays the Same. The Branch Changes Everything.

Same cascade, same textured discs — but the metal behind them decides whether the piece reads warm, cool or graphic. Match it to your hardware first and your wall colour second.

The Wisteria sconce in brass and clear glass against a concrete wall.

Brass & Clear

Warm, Gilded, Traditional

Brass pushes gold up into the glass, so the whole cascade reads warm even before the bulb is on. The most decorative of the three and the one that looks most like a jewellery piece on the wall.

Pairs with: cream, ivory, sage, terracotta and deep green walls; unlacquered brass or gold taps and handles.

The Wisteria sconce in nickel and clear glass against a concrete wall.

Nickel & Clear

Cool, Quiet, Contemporary

Nickel steps back rather than announcing itself, so the glass does all the work and the branch nearly disappears against a pale wall. The safest of the three in a room you do not want to weight down.

Pairs with: white, grey, pale blue and greige walls; chrome, nickel or stainless hardware.

The Wisteria sconce in black and clear glass against a concrete wall, seen at an angle.

Black & Clear

Graphic, Drawn in Silhouette

Black holds the branch as a hard line against the wall, so the piece reads as a drawing with the glass hung on it. The strongest contrast of the three and the only one that still has presence unlit.

Pairs with: white, plaster and limewash walls; matte black taps, steel window frames and Art Deco joinery.

If you match hardware Pick the finish that matches the taps, handles and hinges already in the room. That is the single decision that makes a sconce look specified rather than added later.
If the wall is dark Go brass. On a deep green, navy or charcoal wall, nickel goes grey and black disappears entirely — only the warm metal holds its own.
If the wall is pale Any of the three works. Nickel for the quietest result, black for the sharpest, brass for warmth.
If it is for a bedroom Brass or nickel. Black is the most graphic of the three and reads better in a room you pass through than in one you wake up in.

Screens lie about metal. Brass photographs warmer and nickel cooler than either looks in a real room, and every monitor shifts them further. If you are torn between two, go with the one that matches your existing hardware rather than the one that looks best on screen — and write to us if you want a closer look before ordering.

Choosing Bulbs

The Bulb Sits Behind the Glass

Light has to travel through the cascade to reach the room, so the bulb is what decides whether the discs glow from within or simply hang there. Two minutes of thought here is worth more than any other choice you make about this piece.

Size Matters More Than Wattage

All three fit the socket. Only the slim ones clear the chains.

Flame tip clear glass, 2700K what the photographs use Rounded candle works, softer light a little less sparkle Large globe pushes into the chains glass rests on hot glass

Diagram — bulb shapes shown against the blossom chains, proportions indicative.

Base E12 candelabra, 40W max each. Bulbs are not included, and an E26 will not thread in — check the base before buying a pack.
Size Slim only. The chains hang close to the socket, so a candle or flame-tip bulb is what fits. A globe or a wide vintage bulb pushes the glass aside and sits against it while hot.
Colour 2700K warm white. Anything cooler turns the clear glass blue-white and flattens brass to grey — the warmth in the metal is most of what you are buying.
Clear or Frosted Clear throws hard little points of light through the texture and is what the photographs use. Frosted is kinder beside a bed or a mirror, where the bulb sits close to eye level.
Output About 4W and 400 lumens is the intended level. A sconce is accent light — pushed brighter, the glass stops glowing and starts glaring.
Dimming Fit dimmable bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer. Turned low is where the cascade does the most work, especially in a bedroom.
Buying for a Pair One pack, one brand, one batch. Two sconces on the same wall at slightly different colour temperatures is immediately obvious from the doorway.

If it does not look like the photographs: check the bulbs before anything else. A daylight bulb, an oversized globe or a couple of mismatched leftovers from a drawer will change this sconce more than the wall colour, the height or the finish ever will.

Made by Hand

A Branch Cast, A Cascade Wired

Two processes meet in this piece: metal poured into a mould, and glass hung onto it one disc at a time. Neither part can be rushed, and the second cannot be done by machine at all.

A close view of the cast brass branch, showing knuckles and forking joins with glass discs hanging from it.

Step One

The Branch Is Cast, Not Bent

A bent tube gives you an even curve; a cast branch gives you knuckles, taper and a forking join where one limb splits from another. That is why this reads as something grown rather than something fabricated — and it is also what carries the weight of the glass, which is considerable once every chain is hung.

Step Two

Every Disc Pressed, Every Loop Twisted

Each glass disc is pressed with a rippled dewdrop face rather than left flat, then drilled and hung on its own hand-twisted wire loop. The chains are built and set at staggered lengths by eye — a pre-made strand cut to length would be faster, and would fall in a straight line instead of the way a flowering branch actually hangs.

A close view of the textured glass disc chains hung on twisted wire loops along the branch.

Hand-Made Variation

No Two Are Alike

Both steps above are done by hand, which means your sconce will differ from the photographs in small ways. Here is exactly where to expect it.

Glass The pressed texture differs from disc to disc, so no two catch the light in quite the same pattern.
Cascade Chain lengths are set by eye rather than measured, so the fall varies from one sconce to the next.
Metal Faint casting marks and soft seams along the branch are left in rather than polished out.

These are the marks of a hand-made piece rather than defects, and they are what keep it from looking machine-pressed. Anything that arrives broken, missing or faulty is a different matter entirely — send us a photo and we will put it right.

Where It Goes

Three Rooms, All of Them in Pairs

Every wall below is doing the same job — framing something with light from both sides. That is where this sconce earns its place, and why it is almost always bought two at a time.

A pair of Wisteria sconces lit on either side of a bed.

Bedroom

A Pair Instead of Two Table Lamps

Taking the light off the nightstands gives both surfaces back and puts the glow at reading height where you actually want it. Set the boxes 30 to 36″ above the mattress and just outside the nightstands, fit dimmable bulbs, and the cascade becomes the last thing you see before the light goes down.

A pair of Wisteria sconces lit on either side of a bathroom vanity mirror.

Bathroom & Powder Room

Flanking the Mirror

Light from both sides at face height is what removes the shadows an overhead fitting leaves. Mount at about 60″ off the floor, 4 to 6″ clear of the mirror edge, and keep both well away from the shower — this is rated for dry, well-ventilated rooms.

A pair of Wisteria sconces lit above a velvet sofa in a living room.

Living Room

Above the Sofa, Instead of Art

On the wall behind a sofa a pair does the work of a picture and a lamp at once. Keep them high enough to clear a head leaned back, and let the cascade fall against velvet or plaster — both surfaces hold the light rather than bouncing it.

One thing to check first: a pair needs two junction boxes in the right places, and most walls have neither. Work out where you want them before you order, since running new boxes is an electrician’s job and the part people forget to budget for.

Care

Dust It Twice a Year, Leave the Rest Alone

Textured glass holds dust in every ripple, which is what dulls the sparkle first. Everything else on this piece is damaged far more often by cleaning than by neglect.

The Glass Discs

A feather duster or a dry microfibre cloth, taking one chain at a time and cupping it from below so the wire loops are never pulled sideways. For fingerprints, a barely damp cloth followed straight away by a dry one.

The Branch and Backplate

Dry cloth only. Metal polish, ammonia and abrasive pads will cut through the finish on a cast surface faster than on a flat one, and on brass they leave bright patches that will not blend back in.

The Socket

Keep everything wet away from it. Never spray cleaner at the sconce — liquid runs down the branch and into the socket, which turns a ten-minute dusting job into an electrical one.

Before You Start Switch the power off at the wall and let the bulbs cool completely. Work from a low step rather than reaching across a vanity or over a bed.
How Often Twice a year in a bedroom or living room. In a bathroom, three or four times — hairspray and airborne product film the glass faster than dust does.
Never Use Glass spray, metal polish, ammonia, alcohol, vinegar, abrasive pads, or a vacuum brush on the chains. Any one of them costs you the finish, the wiring, or both.
Changing Bulbs Move the chains gently aside with one hand rather than forcing the bulb past them. The wire loops bend before the glass breaks, but neither needs to happen.
If a Disc Comes Loose The loops are open wire and can be closed again with fine pliers. Keep the disc, send us a photo, and we will tell you where on the chain it belongs.

The short version: dry dust, no sprays, power off first. Glass and cast metal outlast almost everything else in a house on exactly that and nothing more.

Questions, Answered

Glass Branch Sconce FAQ

Should I buy one or a pair?
Most rooms want a pair. One lights a corner; two frame a bed, a mirror or a fireplace and make the wall itself the feature. Space the boxes 28 to 36″ apart, and order both together so the glass and finish come from the same batch.
Which finish should I choose?
Match your existing hardware first. Brass is warm and traditional and the only one that holds up against a dark wall; nickel is cool and steps back on a pale wall; black draws the branch in silhouette and gives the sharpest contrast.
Is the glass real, and does it vary?
Yes — clear crystal glass, pressed individually with a rippled dewdrop face and hung on hand-twisted wire loops. Because each disc is pressed and each chain is hung by eye, the texture and the fall differ slightly from one sconce to the next.
Are bulbs included, and which ones should I use?
No — it takes E12 candelabra bulbs, 40W max each, and bulbs are not included. Use a slim candle or flame-tip shape so it clears the chains, in warm white around 2700K. Cool white turns the glass blue and flattens the metal.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, if you fit dimmable bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer. There is no built-in driver, so the bulbs decide this entirely — and turned low is where the cascade does the most work.
How high should it be mounted?
About 60″ off the floor beside a mirror or in a hallway, and 30 to 36″ above the mattress beside a bed. Allow at least 20″ of clear wall across so the cascade hangs free of trim, tile edges and furniture.
How is it installed?
It is hardwired to a wall junction box and runs on 110V–240V. We recommend a licensed electrician — and if you are hanging a pair, you need two boxes in the right places, which most walls do not already have.
How do I clean it, and can I use it in a bathroom?
Power off, then a dry cloth or feather duster only. Never spray cleaner at it — liquid runs down the branch into the socket — and keep polish and ammonia off the metal. Rated IP20, so a dry, well-ventilated bathroom is fine but direct spray and steam are not.
