A waterfall,

Ondine lets thirty-one globes of natural alabaster fall from a single brass canopy, each on its own cable, like drops of water caught in the moment before they land. Lit, the whole cascade glows soft and warm, from the top of the stair to the floor below.
Most chandeliers stop at the ceiling. Ondine is made for the space beneath it: the tall, empty volume of a foyer, a stairwell or a double-height living room, where a single fixture usually looks lost. Here, light travels the whole height of the room, and the stone stays beautiful even when it is switched off.
- Every drop is stone. Each globe is turned from natural alabaster and carries its own veining.
- You decide the fall. Every cable adjusts on its own, so the cascade can taper, spiral or follow a stair.
- Made for tall rooms. Foyers, stairwells and double-height spaces finally get a light that fills them.
- Soft light, no glare. The stone diffuses every G9 bulb, so you can look straight up the cascade without squinting.
- Beautiful by day. Unlit, the veined globes read like a sculpture of polished river stones.
Named for a water spirit, shaped like falling rain.
In European folklore, an ondine is a water spirit who lives in springs and waterfalls. Our design began with something far simpler: rain running off a roof edge and breaking into drops, each one catching the light for a second as it falls.
We wanted to hold that second still. Glass looked too sharp and too cold for water at rest, but alabaster, milky and lit from within, had the softness of mist. So every drop became a sphere of real stone, turned by hand.
Then we gave each drop its own cable instead of fixing them to a frame. That freedom is what makes Ondine feel like water: it can pour straight down a stairwell, pool above a table, or spiral through a double-height hall.

Every globe hangs on its own cable, so the outline is set on site, not in the factory. Pick a shape to see how the same thirty-one globes can be arranged.
Choose a shape
A classic taper: the centre globes fall lowest and the outer ring stays high, like water pouring from one point. The safest choice for a stairwell seen from below.
Each globe drops a little lower than the one before it, tracing a slow spiral. Beautiful in a round foyer or a double-height hall you walk around.
All globes hang at nearly one height, forming a soft cloud of light. Ideal above a long dining or entry table, where you want light close to the surface.
The cascade steps down from one side to the other, matching the pitch of a staircase so every step sits under the same soft glow.
Each globe hangs from its own brass cap and cable, adjustable up to 59″ (1.5 m). Your installer sets each length on site, so the shape can be fine-tuned to your ceiling and stair.

Thirty-one spheres, one block at a time.
A sphere is the hardest shape to carve from stone, and Ondine needs thirty-one that belong together. Most of the work is done by hand.

Chosen at the block
Raw alabaster is picked for clear, sound stone, with no cracks through the part each globe will come from.
- Step 2
Cut and turned round
Blocks are sawn into rough cubes, then turned slowly on the lathe and checked by hand until each one is a true sphere.
- Step 3
Hollowed from within
The centre is carved out through a small opening until the walls are thin enough for light to pass, which is where the glow comes from.
- Step 4
Sorted into a family
Finished globes are laid out together and matched by size and tone, so all thirty-one read as one cascade.
- Step 5
Capped, wired and lit
Each globe is polished to a satin face, fitted with its brass cap and cable, and lit to check the glow before packing.
We can steer the stone. We cannot copy it.
Alabaster is quarried, not manufactured, so the globes you receive will differ from every photograph here. Each one is turned from its own piece of stone, so its veining wraps all the way around the sphere.
In a cascade, placement matters as much as the stone. Because the lowest globes sit closest to the eye, we hang the calmest ones there by default and keep heavy seams higher up.

Heavy veins kept high. The most strongly veined globes go to the top of the cascade, the calmest to the bottom, closest to the eye.
