How it worksOne order, one bigger discount

The discount is based on your order subtotal, and checkout always applies the highest tier you qualify for. Mix anything you like — a chandelier for the dining room, sconces for the hallway and a table lamp as a gift all count towards the same total.

Notice the middle example: adding a $525 table lamp moved the order up a tier and increased the saving by almost $150 — so the lamp effectively cost about $380. If you're close to $2,000 or $5,000, it's worth looking at what else is on your list.

Before you check outFive things worth checking

• Measure the room. A good rule for chandeliers: add the room's length and width in feet — the total, in inches, is a comfortable diameter. Over a table, aim for about two-thirds of the table's width.
• Check the ceiling. Larger stone fixtures are heavy — see how much an alabaster chandelier weighs and make sure your electrical box is rated for it.
• Choose a warm bulb. Alabaster glows honey-gold under 2700K light and can look grey under cool white. More in why alabaster sometimes looks grey.
